The story of Dambekalns reclamation begins with love for the land and persistent work. To touch the earth means to admire its essence, to understand how it changes, to understand the arable layer and the deeper soil layers, its color, chemical composition and fauna. The plowed field with the deepest horizons of the soil becomes a microbiological and hydrological phenomenon in which life arises and continues in continuous movement. It is the soil with its microflora that provides the possibility for life on our planet. Without soil processes, it would be debris and the land would be a desert.

About Valdemars Dambekalns

Valdemārs Dambekalns is a farmer from deep Latvian countryside, with harsh climate. On the Piebalga side, people traditionally do not grow crops or vegetables, but raise livestock and do various other jobs. Due to the fact that agriculture cannot provide a living, it has been tried to produce sports cars, to brew beer (Valdemārs Dambekalns was Valmiermuižas alus founder and co-owner for many years) and services to other farmers.

Education and professional development are essential for Dambekalns family, in order to be able to offer better and better services. Dambekalns is College educated Agronomist and soon will be getting hydro engineering degree.

The story would not be complete without the Dambekalns’ family, where five children grow up. Family values, work ethic and heritability of experience highlight Dambekalns reclamation among other reclamation systems and hydrotechnical structures companies.

Dambekalns land melioration company is a family enterprise specializing since 2009 drainage in construction and repair in current and former agricultural lands. The company combines the Dambekalns’ family and other industry professionals with specialized hydromelioration education, olering high quality services.

We have also repaired drainage systems on our own. In very small cases it often works, but for larger pieces there is neither precision nor quality, and in the end it is just wasted labour and material.We have chosen Dambekalns drainage for the fourth year for a number of reasons. Firstly, there is a lot of work involved in land reclamation, and we cannot do it ourselves. Secondly, the company has a very professional team, and thirdly, the work is done quickly: in two or three days. On average, we lay 1.5-2 km of new drainage system per year.
